Amal Mattu recently posted a picture from one of the whiteboards that he teaches with during emergency department shifts. It caught my eye because of the title: 10 Pearls for the Interns. At first glance, it’s just a list of the 10 things that interns should do to survive and be good doctors. But if you look more carefully at the list you will likely realize that it’s a list for ALL of us.

This list was so popular on social media that someone made it into a nice infographic.
This list is important for many reasons. First, it is a good reminder for physicians (actually, this list is really pertinent for all trainees) who have just entered their training. But I think what is more important is that these are rules for life in medicine. The rules apply to all of us healthcare.
